Kyoungmin came to America at the age of 19 from South Korea, where she was born and raised. She began college at the University of Iowa, studying psychology.  During her first year of college, she began experiencing depression, returned to her home, and learned about her illness. When she returned to Iowa City, she changed her major to Sociology and worked on reducing her internal shame, improving her mental health, and now working on the adolescent inpatient psychiatric unit at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
