Kiran performed her song about depression on our stage in 2015. Kiran is a down to earth girl from Jersey who went to the University of Virginia when she was 18 and has since not left the state. She never expected to become a Virginian, but to date, she has spent more of her life there than anywhere else. She was raised in an Indian immigrant family and spent many of my summers and vacations in the villages of India where her family is from. In many ways, she is an open book. Perhaps a slightly complicated one, but one which reflects her devotion to truth telling which she channels into writing or songwriting to allow the creative in her to breathe.
Kiran Ferrandino sings “This Is My Light”
“I believe that darkness can lead to light. I believe that shame can lead to acceptance and understanding. I believe that our worst yesterdays can lead to amazing tomorrows. And, most importantly, I do believe there is hope.”
