Josh is from Westchester, NY, and is older brother to twin siblings. His interests are sports, especially tennis, and politics. Josh has faced mental health challenges since his Junior year of high school and following a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder during his Freshman year of college spent a year in mental health treatment that left him out of sync with his peers and sometimes doubting his future. Josh wants to be a part of This Is My Brave because he wants to raise awareness of bipolar disorder, specifically of manic episodes, since he was unaware of manic episodes before he experienced one. He is inspired to get and stay mentally healthy because he had an older brother who passed away, and he says he’d feel guilty if he weren’t trying his best to stay healthy after his brother lost his life. Josh hopes the show conveys that mental illness doesn’t discriminate, that mental illness needs to be talked about more, and that people are resilient.
