FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 06/22/23

LEESBURG, VA: This Is My Brave, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health, announced its inaugural campaign to declare the month of August as Teen Mental Health Month. Launching in August 2023, the campaign aims to educate, support, and empower teens by providing resources, events, and initiatives focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Nonprofit and for-profit organizations, businesses, government entities, schools, individuals, and more are invited to join This Is My Brave, Inc. in a concerted effort to address and fulfill the recommendations stated in the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2021 Youth Mental Health Advisory.

Teen Mental Health Month will be an annual awareness campaign dedicated to promoting and prioritizing the mental well-being of teenagers. Declaring an awareness month for teen mental health allows every interested partner the opportunity to highlight their own resources, events, and research cohesively to reach systemic change as soon as possible.

“I’m excited to announce this campaign. There are so many wonderful organizations in this country that already have substantial resources and data, and there is an immeasurable amount of potential for this campaign,” said Katie Grana, Director of Programming of This Is My Brave. “Being able to collaborate as a single movement to change the way our society prioritizes teen mental health could be exactly what we need to change the narrative.”

The time to act is now. This Is My Brave is openly welcoming all organizations, businesses, young people, leaders, schools, family members, caregivers, healthcare providers, funders, researchers, U.S. federal, state, local, and tribal governments to partner in this campaign.
