Teen Mental Health Month Launches, Uniting Partners in a Mission to Support Teen’s Mental Health and Well-Being

LEESBURG, VA: This Is My Brave, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the stigma surrounding mental health, announced its inaugural campaign to declare the month of August as Teen Mental Health Month. Launching in August 2023, the campaign aims to educate, support, and empower teens by providing resources, events, and initiatives focused on mental health and wellbeing.
Nonprofit and for-profit organizations, businesses, government entities, schools, individuals, and more are invited to join This Is My Brave, Inc. in a concerted effort to address and fulfill the recommendations stated in the U.S. Surgeon General’s 2021 Youth Mental Health Advisory. Teen Mental Health Month brings together a coalition of partners and organizations committed to prioritizing the mental well-being of young individuals. By joining forces, This Is My Brave and its partners aim to create a supportive environment where teenagers can thrive emotionally and mentally.

Throughout August, Teen Mental Health Month will feature a series of events, resources, and engaging social media posts, all aimed at equipping teens, parents, educators, and communities with the tools and knowledge to prioritize mental health.
“Teen Mental Health Month is more than just a campaign; it’s a movement for positive change. Together with our partners, we are committed to fostering an environment where young individuals can embrace and prioritize their mental well-being,” added Natasha West.
This Is My Brave encourages individuals, schools, and communities to participate in the campaign, share resources, and engage in open conversations about mental health using the hashtag #tmhm2023.
The time to act is now. This Is My Brave is openly welcoming all organizations, businesses, young people, leaders, schools, family members, caregivers, healthcare providers, funders, researchers, and U.S. federal, state, local, and tribal governments to partner in this campaign.

This Is My Brave debuted its first-ever live show in May 2014 in Arlington, VA, at the Spectrum Theatre to a sold-out crowd of nearly 400. Over the past eight years, the nonprofit organization has hosted 82 performances across the United States and Australia.
