Our new theme song! Available now for download
Today is World Mental Health Day, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than to share with you our new theme song. After years of licensing the Sara Bareilles song “Brave” as our unofficial anthem to open our shows across the US, we felt it was time for a new song to take center stage. Back in July we launched our first singer/songwriter theme song competition and were so impressed with the touching songs that came in. We’re incredibly grateful to all those who applied and appreciate all the time and energy you poured into creating your submissions.
We’d like to celebrate our 3 finalists and share their beautiful songs with you.
Neha Sinha
Neha performed her original song “Safe” in our 2018 show in Bethesda, Maryland. She also joined us on stage at our pilot High School Edition show in Hershey, Pennsylvania in November of 2019 where she shared her story and again performed “Safe.” For the theme song competition, Neha wrote a song entitled, “This Is My Brave” and created this lyric video.
Jada Bromberg
Jada is a current storyteller with This Is My Brave’s 2020 DC-area High School Edition show which will be premiering on our YouTube channel on October 18th. She also interned with us over the summer and was a huge help in updating our website and also assisting on the @ThisIsMyBraveTeens Instagram account, along with several other projects. Jada wrote a song she titled “Truth” for the competition:
Emily Escobar
Emily is a current college student in New York City where she’s meshing her love of music and art with her passion for mental health advocacy work. She is the founder of @todayIamloved on Instagram where she shares positive and empowering messages to remind young people they are not alone. Emily wrote a song called “This Is My Brave” for the competition:
Ultimately, we had to select a final winner, and we landed on “Tell Them I’m Brave” which was submitted by Natalie Layne and Phoebe Scott, recent graduates of Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
We’re so excited to share the song as a lyric video at the start of our “Stories from Home” shows this month. Natalie will be releasing the song on iTunes on Friday, October 23rd, and it’s currently available for pre-order. In celebration of World Mental Health Day, you can purchase the song via our new merch site for a $5 donation, but it will only be available until October 22nd. The funds raised from this digital download offer will be split equally between This Is My Brave and the artists. We would greatly appreciate your support and know you’ll love listening to the song as a reminder of how hard we work to take care of our mental health. We are BRAVE! <3
