Individuals from the Chicagoland area who have struggled with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, suicide attempts, autism spectrum, schizophrenia, and others are encouraged to tell their story in essay, poetry, comedy, original music or other artistic medium.
Caregivers are also encouraged to tell their side of the story. Mental health knows no bounds of age and neither does this event. All ages are welcome to express their story. Due to the nature of some stories, the show often carries a PG rating.

The Northwest Indiana Excellence in Theatre Foundation is proud to bring back THIS IS MY BRAVE CHICAGOLAND on Sunday, May 21, 2017. This Is My Brave is a live storytelling event where real people tell real stories about their real life mental health issues. Billed as #StorytellingSavesLives, This is My Brave seeks to remove the stigma of mental illness, open a dialog, and create opportunities for people to thoughtfully engage around the topic of mental health.
