Jamie Davenport is so excited to share her original poetry at This Is My Brave! She is from Connecticut but has lived in Boston since 2012. She moved here to study Acting at Emerson College. She is a writer, performer, and artist full time and also manages a coffee shop full time. Mental Illness has been a constant companion to Jamie. She has suffered with anxiety and depression all of her life, but her piece today focuses on her struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Jamie hopes that her poem about her particular subcategory of OCD, known as Relationship OCD will bring awareness to the disorder. ROCD is currently not classified in the DSM which she hopes will eventually change. Jamie is inspired to stay mentally healthy because it is the most important piece to feeling joy in her life. She enjoys walking, listening to music, drinking coffee, and reading at the library. When she is not working or doing any of the later she is spending time with her boyfriend James. They run an art/poetry Instagram account together called @davenpoems. Thank you to the This is My Brave cast for helping me feel empowered and encouraged!
