Meet Iowa Corridor Cast Member Gezwa Groves.

We are proud to introduce you to Iowa Corridor cast member Gezwa Groves.  The show takes place Saturday, April 22nd at the Ballantyne Auditorium on the campus of Kirkwood Community College.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a poet and originally from the Kansas City area. I began practicing spoken word in 2013. use words not only as a way of healing for myself but also as an expression to those to find their own way to speak up.

I am a distanced mother of 3 teen-aged children that keep my world brightly lit. I studied at Cornell for two years before graduating with a BA in English Literature from the University of Iowa in 2001.

After an early go in the restaurant business, following the family legacy, I became an educator and have taught at the elementary school level for seven years. I am now retired and continue to pursue my quest for better mental health.

I write poems to speak hope.

I treat psychosis to live rationally.

I live locally to gain family.

I sew regularly to share joy.

I want audiences to understand.

Come here Gezwa and her castmates end stigma one story at a time.  Tickets are now on sale for our Iowa Corridor show on April 22nd! Get your tickets before they are sold out. Hope to see you there!
