Our Baltimore show, produced by Our Door, is only six days away! We are so excited to introduce another dynamic cast member, Sinclair Ceasar!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I consider myself to be a Black Geek. I love all things nerd culture, superheros, and I used to have an unhealthy obsession with collecting geeky items! I enjoy public speaking, trying new places to eat, and my new love is improv. It’s been something I’ve tried before, but I’m taking it much more seriously these days.
How has mental illness affected your life?
My struggles with depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder, have always been hard for me to explain to others. They find it hard that someone so bubbly and energetic, could be fighting these things. But I do each and every day. I struggle to leave the house at times, start new things, finish things (a huge struggle), and to just be myself. I go to therapy once a week, journal most days, and do a lot to take care of myself. It’s something I’ve learned to manage, but I have my bad days like everyone else.
Why did you want to be a part of This Is My Brave?
I want to end stigma around mental illness and I want someone else to realize that they’re not alone in their struggle.
What inspires you to stay mentally healthy?
My wife, my family, the things that bring me joy, and the fact that others out there are fighting the same fight. I find inspiration in a lot of places.
What do you hope the audience takes away from the show?
That they are enough, that they get to struggle and not have all the answers, and that they get to keep showing up and taking this life thing one day at at time.
