Announcing our Fall Season of Shows!

It feels like just yesterday we were planning our first This Is My Brave Show, but in reality that was two and a half years ago. We're not even three yet, and 2016 has been a record year for our organization. From our biggest season ever, with five shows produced this past May for Mental Health Awareness Month, to coverage in the Washington Post and Oprah Magazine, we couldn't be more excited about what the future has in store for our brave storytellers, but alumni and up-and-coming team members.

Have you ever witnessed someone stand up on a stage in front of hundreds of people to share a story about what it feels like to live with depression, addiction and PTSD? It's like they're practically naked up there on stage. One of our storytellers even went so far as to demonstrate this in his performance in our Chicagoland show. {No, this is not common in our shows, but we're super proud of Marlon for his ability to be vulnerable in his storytelling.}

Our shows are powerful. As Eliza T. Williamson, one of our Boston storytellers, says:

"Stories connect us, they offer us refuge, sanctuary, meaning and context. Stories help us see alternate perspectives, they make us curious, sometimes furious, they challenge our assumptions and they remind us we are not alone - that it is not too late. It is never too late."

It's not too late to get involved with This Is My Brave. We are always seeking brave and creative storytellers - both for our live shows, and for our blog as guest writers, as well as volunteers as they are the lifeblood driving our organization.

We encourage you to join us as we get ready to produce another season of courageous stories of living with and overcoming mental health challenges.
