How you can get involved with fundraising for This Is My Brave
Hi, everyone! Thank you for tuning into the This Is My Brave blog. If this is the first blog post you are reading, welcome, and thank you for your time and attention. Today we are talking about how you can get involved with fundraising for This Is My Brave.
Fundraising is essential to the longevity of our mission to bring stories of mental illness and addiction out of the shadows and into the spotlight to end the stigma around mental health and save lives.
At its core, fundraising is about healthy relationships built on trust. Those who donate will be doing so because they have heard about our mission, seen our work in action, believe that they can impact individuals around the country by supporting this movement, and trust us to make the most of their generosity. If this is the beginning of our relationship, we want you to get to know us and understand who we are and our mission. If you have not already, watch this short documentary to see our work in action. The generosity of people like you made everything you saw there possible.
We have three different options for those interested in donating:
Ways to donate:
1. Brave Champions Monthly Giving Program: You recognize the power of speaking openly and honestly about mental illness and addiction, and you’re committed to helping others share their stories. Our Brave Champions contribute at least $10 per month because they know this investment can be life-changing or life-saving for someone else. ***If you are looking for the best way to support This Is My Brave, becoming a Brave Champion is the way to go!
2. Donate In Memoriam: Dedicate your donation in honor or memory of a loved one.
3. One-time Donation: You want to get your feet wet. Maybe it’s your first time donating to a non-profit, as always if you have any questions feel free to reach out. We promise even the smallest donations can have drastic results.
Perhaps you’re thinking, “Oh my goodness, I would love to support This Is My Brave, but it’s just not in my budget right now.” That’s okay because we have several opportunities for our supporters to get involved in fundraising that does not involve your checkbook.
Ways to fundraise:
1. Depressed Cake Shop: Do you like baking? Then you could host a DCS pop-up to help us be a bright spot in someone’s future. Together we can change the conversation around mental health one gray cake at a time.
2. Donate Your Birthday: Donate your birthday and have your friends and family donate instead of giving gifts. *Disclaimer* this still means you are a year older- you do not get to stay the same age by donating birthdays :). Donating your birthday is just one example of peer-to-peer fundraising, there are countless others. You can find more examples here.
3. Get Creative: Be your own fundraiser! Get creative let us know what you want to do, and we will support you in any way we can.
We are thankful for all efforts to fundraise for This Is My Brave. We cannot stress this enough- even the smallest contributions are impactful. There has been significant progress made over the years, but we are far from the finish line. With your help, we hope to put an end to the stigma surrounding mental illness.
